WALKING IN SVANETI

Svaneti is a mountainous region located in the northwest of the country. It has never been conquered by enemies, so it has preserved its authenticity and pristine beauty. The nature and historical monuments of Svaneti are best experienced by walking along the wild forest and mountain trails of this region. Therefore, we offer hiking in the mountains and overnight stays in rural houses.

Day 1. Tbilisi - Zugdidi - Svaneti, Mestia

Transfer from Tbilisi to Svaneti. The road is not close, so we will stop for lunch on the way, and in the town of Zugdidi we will visit the palace of the Dadiani princes, see the treasury and rare exhibits of the museum. By evening, we arrive in the town of Mestia, the administrative center of Svaneti. Overnight stay in Mestia.

Day 2. Hiking from Mestia to village Zhabeshi

We start hiking in Svaneti. Mountains, snow-capped peaks, dense forests, rivers and gorges - beautiful views and nature - all of this needs to be overcome. We leave Mestia and go to the village of Zhabeshi. We start at an altitude of 1400 m, climb to 1850 m and descend to the village of Zhabeshi at 1600 m. We will walk 16 km, 6-7 hours with a break for a snack. Overnight stay in the village of Zhabeshi.

Day 3. Hiking from Zhabeshi to Adishi - Iprali

In the morning, we leave Zhabeshi and follow the route through mountain villages - Adishi, Iprali. We start at an altitude of 1600 m, climb to 2450 m and descend to the village of Adishi at 1900 m. We will walk 13 km, 5-6 hours with a break. Overnight stay in the village of Iprali.

Day 4. Hiking from Iprali to Ushguli

We leave Iprali and go to the village of Ushguli. The highest mountain settlement in Europe and the oldest in Svaneti. Towers and ancestral homes - machubi - make an indelible impression. We will definitely visit such a house that has been perfectly preserved since the 13th century. The route is 8-10 km. Overnight stay in the village of Ushguli.

Day 5. Chalaadi Glacier - waterfall Shdugra - Mesta

In the morning, a car will pick us up and we will return from Ushguli to Mestia. First, we will climb to the Chalaadi glacier and you will see how a river is born from the thickness of the ice. We will have to walk to the glacier, but we will cope with this ascent. Having descended back to the car, we go to the Becho gorge. There, a hike begins to a very powerful and beautiful waterfall, Shdugra. Overnight stay in Mestia.

Day 6. Mestia - Tbilisi

In the morning, we leave Mestia and return to Tbilisi.
