TBILISI, KAKHETI, BORJOMI

Day 1. Tour of Tbilisi

Arrival. Transfer to the hotel. Walking tour of Tbilisi. The ancient city is nestled in the valley of the Kura River, which gives it a special atmosphere. We will see the palace of Queen Darejan - Sachino, the plateau of Metekhi with a monument to the city's founder King Vakhtang and take a cable car up to the Narikala Fortress, then descend to the Fig Gorge. We will listen to stories about the sulfur baths, which are the heart of the old city. Then we will visit Maidan, the Sharden district, Sioni, the Bridge of Peace, Anchiskhati Basilica, the Gabriadze Tower, and Freedom Square. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2. Kakheti - St.Nino monastery - Sighnaghi - 16th century wine cellar

We are heading to Kakheti. We will make a short stop at a winery and try several varieties of wine poured straight from the tanks. Our next stop is Bodbe, a women's monastery where St. Nino. From there, we are not far from Sighnaghi - the city of love. This ancient town overlooks the Alazani Valley, and the view of the Caucasus Mountains is impressive. We will stroll along the longest fortress wall in Georgia and climb the fighting tower, which offers a beautiful view. We will then descend into the valley and stop for a rest in a 16th-century old princely cellar, which now houses an interesting ethnographic museum. Here we will have lunch with local homemade wine. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 3. Mtskheta - Jvari - Shio Mgvime monastery - Borjomi

We leave the city and head to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. Jvari Monastery (a muse for Lermontov), Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century) are places that have shaped the history of Georgia and are full of ancient myths and legends. Nearby, nestled in the folds of the mountains, is the Shio-Mgvime Monastery. Monastic life has been ongoing here since the 6th century. Caves were carved into the rocks, where monks-hermits lived. Our path then leads us through a forested gorge to the resort town of Borjomi. We will stroll through their historic park and drink mineral water straight from the source. A lovely rural family will host us for lunch. The famous Georgian dishes are prepared by the home's owner, and the wine is made by the hospitable family's patriarch. There will be toasts and songs with a guitar. Overnight stay in Tbilisi.

Day 4. Tbilisi - Mtatsminda Mount - pantheon - The Chronicle of Georgia

On this day, we will visit places no less interesting than on the first day. We will ascend Mount Mtatsminda, which impressed Mayakovsky with its view, and on a clear day, you can see Kazbek. We will go up on a funicular, which has been operating here since 1905. On our way down to the city, we will visit the pantheon where Alexander Griboedov is buried and listen to interesting facts about him, as the best years of his life were associated with Georgia. We will then head to the northern part of the city to visit the huge "Georgian Stonehenge," the monumental complex "The Chronicle of Georgia." The main events of the country's history and the people who made it happen are depicted on huge bronze pillars. After the tour, there will be time to stroll through souvenir shops and wine stores. Overnight stay in Tbilisi or transfer to the airport.

The tour price includes: a guide, a Mercedes Vito minivan, transfer to/from the airport, tickets to all mentioned sites, lunches on the 2nd and 3rd day, and a funicular ride to the top.
