EXPLORING THE CAVES OF IMERETI

The entire western part of Georgia is located on a huge limestone block. Over millions of years, water has carved intricate underground passages and caves into it. Only a few of them are arranged for tourists, most of them remain untouched. Only the bravest and most desperate can master them. It is in these places - dark, damp, enticing, luring like sirens, intoxicating with their secrets - that we offer a tour - into the depths of the ages and the realm of underground.

Day 1. Tbilisi - Imereti, Tkibuli

To start this exciting journey into the depths, you need to arrive in Georgia. We will meet you at Tbilisi airport and head west of the country. Of course, on the way, we will stop for lunch in a beautiful place where Georgian wine and no less Georgian food will awaken your desire to quickly master the secrets of cave depths. We will stay in the cozy town of Tkibuli, where our adventures will begin.

Day 2. Tskhrajvari Peak - Datvis Mgvime cave

In the morning, accompanied by an experienced guide, we set out to conquer the beauty of the Datvis Mgvime cave. But she, like a capricious lover, will not surrender to just anyone. You still have to prove that you can become her chosen one. Therefore, first, we will conquer the powerful unbending peak proudly raising its head to the sky - Mount Tskhrajvari. The view from there evokes both fear and delight, the mind floating in ecstasy over space. Now, having experienced the exciting height, we are ready to lower this ecstasy into the damp depths of the cave.Now, convinced of our firmness, she will let us into her depths. The cave is located away from human eyes and not many people know about it. It's very extreme, you have to crawl into it. Some places are so narrow that you have to rub against the walls with your whole body, but it's even sweeter because at the end of the journey there is a miracle waiting for you. Another huge cave, and if you haven't run out of breath yet, there is another narrow crawl into the next cave. The duration of the hike is not limited by time, it all depends on your endurance. After such a merging with the depths, tired and satisfied, we will return to Tkibuli. Overnight stay in Tkibuli.

Day 3. Mukhura Cave

Not every day do we conquer stubborn beauties. This time, we will head to the village of Mukhura and explore the local waterfall and cave. Mukhura Cave is not as extreme, but it is gentle and unique. It erupts a waterfall almost 40 meters high from its belly. Like experienced lovers, we will penetrate into it and discover a lake at the depth of its body, from which the waterfall is born. Near the cave stands Mukhura Fortress, the climb to which is not easy, but we will manage it. Overnight in Tkibuli.

Day 4. Tsutskhvati Cave

There are numerous interesting caves in the Tkibuli region, but on this day we will visit the multi-level cave of Tsutskhvati. People have been exploring its depths since ancient times, and it has welcomed them with open arms. An archaeological site from the Stone Age was discovered in this cave. The cave itself consists of several levels, and exploring them will require squeezing through narrow passages. Tsutskhvati village is located 10 km from Tkibuli, and it is a typical Georgian village with its characteristic hospitality. After the cave expedition, we will have lunch with a local family. Homemade wine, dishes cooked by a hospitable hostess, and the toasts of the host will be a fitting end to this day. Overnight in Tkibuli.

Day 5. Melouri Cave - Kutaisi

On the last day of our stay in Imereti, we would like to try something spicy and memorable. We suggest visiting the Melouri cave, which is 40 km away and will take us 1 hour to get there. But then, lovers of hidden passages will enjoy a real pleasure. Our guide will be an instructor-speleologist, because the cave is deep - 7 km, with a complex relief, many underground rivers and waterfalls. And, as always, the most persistent, the most tireless will receive the prize of possession. The depth of penetration is very important, because you want to feel that everything - this cave is conquered completely. To regain strength, we will have lunch at one of the local restaurants. Finally, we will take a walk through the cozy streets of Kutaisi, where Mayakovsky spent his childhood, and stay in this city. Overnight in Kutaisi.

Day 6. Kutaisi - Tbilisi

In the morning we leave Kutaisi and return to Tbilisi.
