TOUR OF EASTERN GEORGIA

Day 1. Pshav-Khevsureti - Shatili

We leave Tbilisi and travel part of the way on the Military-Georgian Road. We turn towards Pshav-Khevsureti and continue to the medieval fortified village of Shatili. Along the way, we will of course eat khinkali and wash it down with chacha in the right place, where you can personally see how khinkali come into being. We will ask the hosts and they will allow us to participate in their birth. Shatili is one of the few fortresses that enemies could not conquer. It is not just a fortress, it is a fortress-village. The houses are connected by passages and bridges. This is a single defensive complex that was an ordinary village in peacetime, but during war it turned into an impregnable fortress. We will stroll along the winding streets of Shatili. We will spend the night in a guesthouse amidst the wild Caucasus mountains. Overnight in Shatili.

Day 2. Pshav-Khevsureti - Anatori - Mutso - Tbilisi.

We head deeper into the mountains. We'll stop near the graves of the abandoned village of Anatori. It's a very sad story about how the village became desolate in the 19th century due to an epidemic. We'll then drive to the village of Mutso. This fortified village is located on a rock and the ascent will require some effort. The fortified village, where every house is a fortress, has been preserved and restored. From there, we'll drive back to Tbilisi. We'll have lunch at a traditional restaurant on the banks of the Aragvi River, and by evening we'll be back in the city. Perhaps after the mountain hikes, you'll enjoy relaxing in the ancient sulfur baths, or some may prefer to go up in a hot air balloon to a height of 150 meters and overlook the city. You'll have a choice. Afterward, we'll wander through the winding streets of the old town, sit in cozy cafes, and listen to live music. Overnight stay in Tbilisi.

Day 3. Dashbashi Canyon - Azeula Fortress - Manglisi Sioni - Tbilisi.

We head out of the city towards the Dashbashi Canyon. We will cross a transparent diamond bridge over it and take a walk to see the beautiful cascading waterfalls. On the way, we will visit the ancient fortress of Azeula, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. In the town of Manglisi, we will stop at one of the oldest cathedrals in Georgia - Manglisi Sioni. It will be a full-day excursion. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 4. Kakheti - David Gareji - 16th century wine cellar - Tsinandali

We're heading to Kakheti, to places you've never been before. We'll visit the David Gareji Monastery, founded in the 6th century. We'll stop by a 16th century nobleman's wine cellar and taste the local wines. This is not just a cellar, but also a unique ethnographic museum where you'll get acquainted with the ancient life of Georgian villages. We'll visit the estate of the Chavchavadze Princes and their ancient wine cellar. We'll spend the night at a lovely hotel near the historical park of the Chavchavadze Princes, where Griboedov and Pushkin used to stroll. Overnight in Kakheti.

Day 5. Kakheti - Lagodekhi National Park

The mountains are always beautiful. On this day, we will go on a hike to the nearby Lagodekhi National Park. It is the first nature reserve in the entire Caucasus, founded in 1912. We will have an exhilarating hike to the waterfall through an untouched forest, painted in all the colors of nature. We will have a picnic in the forest. By evening, we will return to the hotel. Overnight in Kakheti.

Day 6. Cheese factory - Wine museum - Gombori Pass - Tbilisi

We leave Kakheti, but before that, we will visit a cheese factory where we will try 7 types of cheese while sipping wine. As a farewell, we will visit the only wine museum in Georgia and have lunch at the Twins Winery (that's its name). We return to Tbilisi through the not very high, but beautiful Gombori Pass. Overnight in Tbilisi.
